Mr Wormwood's description of Matilda by Candelaria Paz

As you know I have a daughter called Matilda, she's around 5 or 6 or 7, I really don't know. The truth is that I really don't care. She is part, the least important, of my great family. She isn't as nice and intelligent as her father but I can't ask her to be perfect..She thinks she is smart, what an ilusion isn't it? But apart from that she thinks she is important because she reads books. The telly obviously, is better. But due to her pride she won't admit it.

She is a cheater too. Last night I was with Michael (what a kid!) watching how much I've earned that day, which was a lot, and she heard our conversation and tried to look wiser, in fact she is wise. But I think she looked at the paper with the results and gave me the figures as if she had made the calculations, what an insolence!

But she isn't as ruined as she looks. She is afraid to look like me, I'm not proud of it but she has some of my genes. I think she doesn't aprove of what happened to my hair, what an accident! I really wonder what happenend that morning. But after all she is my daughter and I have to accept her as she is bla bla bla.. But if she was as her father or at least as her brother she would be so different! For good of course...
